In a way, it seems that the legacy behind Vintage Solutions of Indiana began long before the business was even started--and before I was born! As the proud owner/primary operator of Vintage Solutions of Indiana, I credit my grandfather for passing on not only his knowledge and problem solving skills, but his work ethic and determination.
This photo is of the same car featured on this website's home page. It was taken in March, 1974 of me and my grandfather at a car show inside the local mall when I was two weeks old. He restored the 1931 Ford Model A Tudor in 1963 then showed it for decades, while along the way even becoming president of the local chapter of the Model A Club.
Although I learned a lot in my grandfather's garage, I always wanted to know more: How things worked, why they didn't work, how could I make them better? At age 12, I disassembled, then reassembled a good engine on my riding mower just to see how it worked. After high school it was no surprise that I went on to study mechanical engineering.
Two years later, while still attending school, I opened my first shop at age 20. I loved working hands-on with projects and building engines, but hated the fact some tasks had to be sent out to a machine shop. So, I began purchasing machining equipment and learning new skills so that nothing would have to leave the shop to be done.
Years were spent acquiring dozens of machines and learning to use them from various mentors I was lucky enough to meet along the way. Unfortunately, many of those skilled in this type of work have passed away. Eventually all work was being performed in house. Quality is in the details and the best way to monitor quality is to perform the jobs in house.
I have been labeled as a perfectionist. So, after spending several years building mostly stock replacement engines, I began using my acute attention to detail to build specialty and vintage engines. I later began performing restoration work on entire vehicles as well as building engines and transmissions for other shops with the same degree of precision.
During the restoration process there are often parts or components which are hard to find or obsolete. This is an even bigger problem if the vehicle is not a commonly restored model. Many people have spent time searching the internet, swap meets, junkyards and forums looking for hard to find parts. This frustrating fact lead to our most recent addition of obsolete parts production.
Now, whether you need a vintage engine built back to original specs, are working on your own restoration project or need full restoration services--missing or damaged hard to find parts will not stop progress! We can make your quality part in house. Parts can be produced from drawings(if available), duplicated from the original or custom designed to work with other components.
No job is too small. If it's important to you, it's important to us. We know not all restorations are a Mustang or Camaro. Many projects have parts that are very hard to find. We will design and produce as little as one part if needed. Don't let an impossible to find part slow you down. With machines and tooling from vintage to modern, we really can be your solution to the impossible.
